Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) have been monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, July 14.
The LPA is located 1,450 kilometers east of Mindanao and is already giving scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in areas Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas.
Flash floods and landslides are possible as the LPA would develop into a tropical depression in the coming days but is unlikely to make a landfall according to PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario on July 12.
Southwest monsoon or hanging habagat has been weak for a week now but may be enhanced with the arrival of the potential tropical depression – isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms can also be experienced to areas that are not affected.
It would be Philippines’ 6th tropical cyclone for 2019 if it becomes a tropical depression and would be give the name Falcon.
